If you’re chasing better recovery, less muscle and joint niggle, or just want your skin and energy to bounce back faster, our Recovery Zone red light therapy might be exactly what you’re after. It’s a full-body light session, it’s completely hands-off and relaxing, and it takes as little as 20–40 minutes.
What is red light therapy?
Red light therapy (also called photobiomodulation, or PBM if you want the technical name) uses specific wavelengths of light, red and near-infrared, to support the body’s natural recovery processes. Our panel at Recovery Zone goes further than most, covering nine wavelengths from visible red and yellow light through to deep near-infrared, so you’re getting both surface-level and deep-tissue coverage in the one session.
Think of it simply like this: red light works more on the surface, skin, circulation, surface tissue. Near-infrared light goes deeper, into muscle and joints. Our panel gives you both, in one lie-down session.
What people use it for
Red light therapy is popular with everyone from weekend sport players to tradies on their feet all day to people just wanting to look after their skin. Common reasons our clients book in:
- Muscle recovery after training, sport, or a physical job
- General joint and muscle discomfort, including stiffness that builds up over time
- Circulation support
- Skin health many people use it as part of a broader skin routine
- General relaxation and wellness, a genuinely nice way to spend 20–40 minutes
Red light therapy is a wellness and recovery tool, not a medical treatment, and it’s not a substitute for seeing a doctor or one of our allied health practitioners about a specific injury or condition. If something’s hurting and you’re not sure why, that’s a conversation for one of our practitioners first, we’re always happy to point you in the right direction.
What to expect in a session
- A quick chat first. Before your first session, one of our team will run through a few simple safety questions (medication, pregnancy, skin sensitivity, nothing invasive, just making sure it’s right for you).
- You lie down, we set you up. You’ll get light-blocking glasses to wear for the session, no staring at the panel required, or allowed.
- The panel does its thing. Sessions typically run 20–40 minutes. You’ll feel warmth, and most people find it genuinely relaxing, some almost fall asleep.
- You’re up and out. No downtime, no recovery period. Plenty of people book it straight after a massage or myotherapy session and head off with the rest of their day.
Book online or call us on 0466900470 to book your first Recovery Zone session.
Is it right for you?
Red light therapy isn’t suitable for everyone. It’s not recommended if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have a history of seizures triggered by light
- Are taking medication that increases light sensitivity (some acne medications, certain antibiotics, some antidepressants, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you’re not sure)
- Have very deeply pigmented skin (Fitzpatrick skin type V–VI)
- Have active/severe acne, or any area of skin that’s painful, raised, crusting or bleeding
If any of that applies to you, or you’re just not sure, mention it when you book, our team will talk it through with you before your session.
